Love at the Sunnyside Chapel Rachel and Remy – 4.15.2023

Remy and Rachel knew each other for years before they even started to date. They attend and work at the same church. This allowed them to be in the same friend circles for some time. But it wasn’t until Remy started to work out with Rachel and another friend, at a gym called Nick’s Fight Club in Amarillo, that they really started to get close. In Rachel’s words, “It made this really sweet foundation of comfort & knowing we liked being together before we even started dating.”

Over time, they both realized that the other was everything they had been looking for and praying for in a partner. They were each other’s answers to the things they had prayed over; they became best friends.

Rachel says, “He is so good at making people feel comfortable & invited in. Comfortable to be vulnerable, comfortable to try a knew things, and comfortable to be whoever the Lord created them to be.”

Once they realized this, they knew they were meant to be together.

Remy had been teasing her about needing to get her nails done because she had told him that he couldn’t propose until they were pretty. One Thursday night back in October, Rachel had gotten her nails done in preparation for a European trip with some friends. After their home cooked meal, he started telling her how nice they looked.

“Well, they would look a lot nicer if there was something on this ring finger *points at the finger where an engagement ring should go.*” – Rachel joked.

Matter of factly, Remy replied: “Well, let’s change that right now!” And got down on one knee to ask her to marry him.

Remy proposed again a bit later that evening because Rachel thought it was all a joke. As it turns out, Remy had planned to propose the next day but changed his mind when he decided that he wanted a few hours when they were the only ones who knew they were engaged.

After that, their planning was a bit of a whirlwind where everything fell into place. They chose a wedding date of April 15 (only 6 months after Remy proposed) because they didn’t want to wait to start their life together.

They knew they wanted to get married in Colorado, surrounded by the beautiful land God created with their closest friends and family. The Sunnyside Chapel in Creede is the perfect place for this vision, surrounded by mountains and fields.

Rachel and Remy chose to have their first look at Luxury Colorado Getaway | Creede, CO | Creede Creekside Cabins, where they had written each other letters. I know what was in those letters were highly personal and heart felt, for both of them cried while they read them.

The ceremony and reception were full of joy and quirky fun. From the selfie they took in the middle of the ceremony, to when Rachel smashed the cake in Remy’s face. They laughed and shared the cake with a kiss.

Remy and Rachel, may you always be each other’s best friends, laugh until your face hurts, and find comfort in each other arms.
